Hi everyone!

Welcome to my Genius Hour math edition site! I am so excited to start exploring my topic and uncovering how I can integrate more social justice topics/issues into my math classroom!

My goals:

• Learn more about about math relates to social justice topics
• Develop a catalogue of different questions/lessons to teach to my students involving math and social justice topics
• Feel more comfortable exploring social justice issues and connecting them to math
• Being able to develop activities/lessons relating to at least 3 different math topics from the Ontario Math Curriculum

How I will measure my progress:

I am hoping to measure my progress by being able to create different math activities/lessons to use in my classroom (I will post these to my blog and hopefully have a toolbox of lessons to pull from, by the end). I will know I am progressing when I am able to connect the curriculum to social justice topics. I will also measure my progress with self reflections and monitoring where my comfort is with teaching social justice with a connection to math. 

My genius hour question:

How can I integrate various social justice topics/issues in my math classroom, while connecting them to Ontario Math Curriculum (specifically, grade 9 academic)?

I look forward to doing more research on this topic!
